I have 5 LARGE BOSTON FERNS... They have been uncared for and are really shabby. Can I cut them back and get good growth again? I live in New Olreans = No freezing problems) and we cannot bring them indoors(lack of space). Please advise if I need to fertilize, protect, etc. etc.

You can prune your ferns back to encourage healthy new growth. When new fronds grow you may discover that the plant can be divided if you find several separate whorls of new fronds. If so and you want to dig and divide the plant, do it next spring. Good luck with your ferns!
