I live in Nashville, TN. Is it too late to trim back my shrubs before winter?

It might be a little risky to prune your shrubs back this late in the season. The general rule of thumb is to prune flowering shrubs immediately after they have finished flowering and to prune non-flowering shrubs in the spring, just as new growth begins. I'd wait to do any pruning.
