We have artificial turf in our back yard. A very small area. It is now being taken over by weeds. Is it safe to use weed be gone on the weeds.

I'm afraid the oils in most herbicides will discolor the turf and might even melt it! The best approach is to lift the turf which will unearth the roots of the weeds, remove the weeds that are in the turf, apply a pre emergent herbicide to the soil (such as Preen) and then replace your artificial turf. The pre emergent will keep future weed seeds from sprouting.
