We are constructing a small 4 season room which has left our side and back lawn in tough shape due to so much rain and traffic. What can we do this fall to help it come back great next spring?

It's getting a little late in the season to reseed but if you don't you'll have to deal with a muddy mess all winter long so I think it's worth taking the chance to reseed. Start by filling in any ruts there might be in the area. It would be nice if you could find dry soil to use for fill in so you can rake it level. After filling in all the low spots, spread a little compost over the top and then overseed. Any seeds that do not sprout now should sprout for you next spring. Keep the seedbed moist and the grass should germinate in about a week or 10 days. In the spring you can overseed any areas that did not grow. Hope your new room is terrific!
