I want to landscape close to my house i have quite a large plot and I am cosidering planting banana plants can I plant them now or is it too late in the season

You can plant them now but you'll need to protect them over the winter months if temperatures drop close to freezing. I'd wait and plant them in the spring. This will give them all summer long to establish, which will give them better reserves to deal with winter weather. Best wishes with your new landscape!
