Hydrangeas grow best when they receive 4 hours of morning sun and then shade from the hot afternoon sunshine. Complete afternoon shade, such as you would find on the side of the building, to filtered afternoon shade such as you would find under a tree are perfect locations. You can plant in the fall, winter, or spring months.
