What is the best seeds to plant to have a nice full yard here in the charlotte area. I would like something the kids can play on in the summer and something that will not die in the winter. I think time may be running out to start my lawn this late in the year. I hope to get started this weekend, can anyone assist me?

You'll want a combination of cool season and warm season grasses in order to have a green lawn most of the year. Time is running out, but this seeding this weekend should be okay. Rather than guess at the type of turf that would be best, I found a publication from North Carolina State University that discusses the best turfgrass varieties for your area along with their pros and cons. I hope you find it helpful:

Best wishes with your new lawn!
