Irises do not need a chill. You can cut the foliage down if you'd like but in your mild winter climate they rarely go dormant so you'll have to discard the advice of cutting the plants down to ground level when the foliage dies in the wintertime. I prune off any brown leaves but allow the rest to remain. Hope this answers your question!
