|Don't put down a winterizer fertilizer until after you have mowed the lawn 3 times. If it doesn't grow enough this fall to mow 3 times, don't put the winterizer down this year. The grass is too young to be able to tolerate the fertilzer until after it has been mowed 3 times. By then the roots will be established and ready to be fed. Hope this clarifies things for you.
