|My crepe myrtles are being supported by stakes & wire due to hurricane. Can I prune the tops now and put in metal stakes and ties to support them permanently?

|You can change the stakes and ties now but I'd leave the majority of the pruning until next spring. Crape myrtles bloom on the new growth of the season. If you prune now they may begin to grow but the new growth can be damaged by winter weather. I'd wait until spring to do the pruning. Best wishes with your crape myrtles!
