zoysia prep/maintenance - Knowledgebase Question

i am new to zoysia and am trying to follow the rules. have zoysia seeds to fill in bare areas. what is best (keeping it simple) to properly prep area and then to maintain until it is established? thanks.

You want the seeds to make good contact with the soil so they will root easily so the best approach is to rake the bare areas, broadcast your seeds, then cover over with a light coating of peat moss or compost. This will help keep the seeds moist and should also keep birds from feasting on the seeds. Water as often as necessary (several times a day) so the seeds never have a chance to dry out. Once they sprout you can usually get by with watering only twice a day, then once a day, tapering off to twice a week and finally, once a week. Your zoysia should establish and root well.
