Sunpatiens can be pruned back and they will respond with new stems and flowers. You can clip them back in mid-summer or in the fall. You can safely remove one third of the plant without harm. Next year you might consider planting the newer more compact varieties that do not require pruning. They include Compact Blush Pink, Compact Coral, Compact Lilac, Compact Orange, Compact White, and Spreading Salmon. Enjoy your colorful garden!
