|Grackles are common here in the desert southwest. They breed in the spring and then congregate in the fall. Once they've collected all of their relatives, they migrate south. So, the problem may be temporary. About the only ways to keep them from congregating is to scare them with jets of water from the hose or to drape bird netting over the canopies of your ficus trees. Knowing that they will move on soon may make their appearance in your yard a little more tolerable.
