When you choose plants as companions, the only real rule is to plant things that enjoy the same exposure to sunshine and have the same watering needs. Your Blue Star Junipers grow best in full sunshine so you'll want to choose something like coreopsis or salvia to grow in the same bed. A second consideration is to plant either a contrasting color, or a complementary color. With Blue Star, bright yellow flowers are an attractive contrast; pink flowering annuals or perennials are complementary. Best wishes with your garden!
