I recently purchased the above house plant. I've tried to follow the recommended placement, watering, etc. and have noticed that the leaves are quickly drying out. What's going on?

Your new plant is an Areca palm and should adapt well to growing indoors. If the leaves are drying out, inspite of receiving adequate water, I suspect the air is too dry or it is sitting in a draft from a heater vent or too close to a wood stove or fireplace. You can try misting the plant, watering often enough to keep the soil moist but not soggy wet, and giving it bright light but not direct sunshine. Hope this helps!
