I have prayer plants on the back porch, that are doing OK.But I'm thinking that if I replant them in a shallow pot they might do better. What is your opinion?

A shallow pot would provide less root room for your Maranta, but I don't know that transplanting them will make them grow faster or "better". These plants like moist soils, but not soggy soils. As long as your container has adequate drainage holes, you water when the top of the soil looks dry, and you feed with a half strength dilution of liquid plant food (Miracle Gro, Peter's, Schultz's, etc.) every 3-4 weeks, your plants should perform well. Enjoy your garden!
