Pathways aren't too difficult to install. Start by figuring out where you'd like to put the paths. You can use your garden hose to make long lines, either straight or undulating from one point to another. Once you're happy with how they look, use a water based spray paint (sold in bright orange!) to mark the outlines of your pathways. Then all you need to do is dig down about 6" to remove any turfgrass or soil within the marked area. Depending upon whether you are pouring concrete or setting stepping stones, you'll need either a 3" thick layer of gravel (for concrete) or 4" of builder's sand as a foundation.

There are lots of books on the subject or you may be able to find some designs or sketches on the web.

Enjoy your landscape!
