I live in Chicago and have blackberry bush growing in pot. It is the first year, so not berries yet. Do I bring in the pot for winter or jsut cover up and leave outside?

Blackberries are winter hardy in your region but the roots might freeze if you leave the pot exposed. So, I suggest you simply dig a hole in the garden and sink the pot into the hole. The soil will help insulate the pot. Don't take the plant indoors - it needs to experience the winter weather so it can rest in anticipation of next spring's growth spurt. Best wishes with your blackberries!
