We moved to Austin, Texas from San Francisco. We have tried 3 times to get our poppy seeds to grow with no luck. Can you help?

You may be planting too late. California poppies don't like Austin summers so they need to be sown in February for early spring flowers. Planting this early will ensure they have the right growing conditions to perform their best. You may want to amend the soil with some organic matter - either compost or regular potting soil to help with drainage. Although these plants usually self-sow in other areas of the country, they rarely self-sow in Austin so you'll probably need to broadcast seeds each year. Hope your seeds grow and flower for you this coming year.
