Pansies are considered a cool season annual but in Red Bluff, where winter weather is not extreme, they may very be root hardy and sprout up again in the spring. If not, the seeds, if allowed to spill on the ground this fall and winter, will become new plants in the spring. I'd expect them to die down over the winter months but resprout in the spring. Enjoy!
