When can I cut back poinsettia plants, they are getting spindly, but turning red. I live in Port Charlotte Florida

To enjoy the red coloration, I would wait until the first week of January to cut them back. At that time cut them back, leaving 4-6 inches of the stem on each branch. Pinch throughout the summer to encourage branching but stop pinching by the first of September. Your poinsettia should bloom for you again next December.
