Pruning Rose of Sharon - Knowledgebase Question

It's 11/20/09 & I am in zone 5 or 4 -- Often prune my ROS in spring & it doesnt hurt later bloom- But can I prune now to lighten it for winter snowload?

You can safely prune your Rose of Sharon after it has gone into dormancy. Wait until after a hard frost when you know it is dormant. If it is not dormant when you prune, it will send out new growth which will not be winter hardy. Good luck with your landscape!
