Hello, I have two Alberta Spruce 6' tall. All of the foliage has falling off. I've checked the branches by shaving one on the surface. The middle is white surrounded by greenish color around the edge. What are the chances the shrub will grow back in the spring? |
Sounds like there is still life in the branches, even though the needles are falling off. There's a chance you'll see new growth in the spring. I'm not sure why the needles would be falling off. Drought, of course, can cause this but so can other cultural problems as well as insect infestations and disease problems. It sounds odd that two spruces have the same symptoms so the problem is most likely cultural rather than insect or disease related. I'd just water as usual and wait to see if the roots are strong enough to put out new growth in the spring. I hope so! |
