Sorry I wasn't more specific! You can prune all the stems down to 12-18 inches above ground level. It will develop leaves below the pruning cuts and new stems above the pruning cuts. To keep it bushy and full, pinch out the tips of the new stems when they reach about 8" long. The result will be two new stems. Keep doing this all through the spring and most of the summer. Stop pinching the tips out at the end of August. Your poinsettias will develop red leaves and flower bracts about 2 months later. Best wishes with your poinsettia plants.
