Would a regular potting mix be alright to use for an indoor Cactus?

Not a dumb question at all! Cactus needs really fast draining soils, so a packaged cactus soil is best for them. If all you have is regular potting soil, you can get away with using it if you incorporate lots sand or gravel. But, to be on the safe side, use a gravel or sand based cactus mix. Your cacti will be much healthier! Best wishes with your cactus.
