Crape myrtles flower on the new growth of the season and should be pruned in late winter or early spring, just as new growth is beginning. February or March is ideal. Remove suckers at the base, crossing or rubbing branches, and branches growing inward toward the center of the plant. Best wishes with your crape myrtle.
