Birds seem to know just when you overseed or seed a new lawn! The best deterrent is to cover over the new seeds with a light layer of compost or straw to keep the birds from eating them. Or, you can simply seed with twice as much and expect some of the seeds will be eaten. Either way, your lawn will come up.
Best wishes with your lawn!
