If you remove all the ornaments and tinsel, you can simply set the tree out in your backyard. The needles will fall off and by spring you'll have just a bare trunk and bare branches. The dead branches will be easy to break off the trunk and the trunk should be easy to either break or saw into pieces. One of my favorite things to do is string popcorn and cranberries onto thread and decorate the tree, then set it out in the backyard. The birds love it!

Or, some counties offer free Christmas tree disposal (they chip them up and use the chips for mulch). Either way, you'll be recycling your tree. Enjoy!
