I'm thinking of planting a fruit tree. Is it okay to plant now or should I wait until spring?

Winter is actually the best time to plant in the desert southwest. The cooler weather will help your new tree avoid planting stress and if you water deeply once each week, it will have ample time to establish before the weather warms in April. Go ahead and plant your tree now. Best wishes with your new tree!
