Queen palms are hardy to about 25F. For the most part, they should be fine if subjected to an hour or two of freezing temperatures. Tying up the leaves in a bundle over the center spear (the heart of the tree) and wrapping with a fabric such as burlap can provide adequate protection. Keeping water from collecting and freezing in the crown cavity is the goal here. DO NOT wrap the palm with plastic! This can severely injure the tree. Wrapping the trunk up to the spear leaf with burlap can help protect internal tissue. Do not wrap the trunk with anything, sucfh as a blanket that absorbs water, or it could develop trunk rot. Hope this information is helpful.
