I live in Newbury Park, California 91320 and I'd like to re-seed my front lawn with a different type of grass without removing the old grass. What type of grass seeds do you recommend and how do I do it? PS. I want the grass to be green year round...

I'd go with a tall fescue or a mixture of Kentucky blue and tall fescue. Check the grass blends or mixtures in your local garden center - they often have pictures of the grass blades on the packages and you can choose something compatable with your current lawn. To overseed, mow your current lawn as low as possible and broadcast the grass seeds, then cover the entire lawn with a thin layer of compost or peat moss and water the lawn well to help wash the seeds down to the soil level. The compost will help keep the seeds moist so they can germinate quickly. Best wishes with your lawn.
