In the past, I've bought and planted macho ferns from Home Depot. After this last freeze in SW Florida they are very brown. Should I cut them back? Will they return to the green that they once were? Thanks, Nat

Your macho fern is frost tender and will die down with the first frost. If the frost was short lived, the roots will be okay and new growth will appear when the weather warms up. If the frosty weather lasted more than a few hours, the roots may have died. You won't know until later next month whether or not new growth will appear. Until then, it's a waiting game, and you can safely prune off the damaged fronds. Let's hope for the best!
