i have some dahlia tubers ordered via the internet, and want to multiply them one year before dividing and putting them in the ground. what things do i need to accomplish my goal?

Dahlia tubers multiply all by themselves when they are planted in the ground so I'd suggest planting them as soon as they arrive, enjoying the flowers this summer, then digging and dividing the tubers in the fall. Each tuber will multiply by growing 3-5 new tubers attached to the original tuber. Usually they look like spokes radiating off a wheel, and each of the tubers can be planted next spring.
