hi there,
My name is Elaine,
I want to plant new grass in my backyard. I dig all old weed and grass. now I see a lot of weed coming back. What should I do before I put down grass seed? thank you so much

There are two ways to approach the problem. One is to rototill everything up and rake out the weeds, the other is to use a vegetation killer such as Round Up to kill the weeds. Once they're dead you can rototill the area and rake out the debris. I vote for simply rototilling the area, raking out the weeds, spreading several inches of compost over the area, rototilling a second time, then raking the area level and broadcasting the grass seeds.
