|As part of the sale process, the previous owner of my house abandoned an oil tank which was buried under the shady front lawn. There currently are a number of evergreen shrubs and hostas growing on the lawn, and I would like to plant a flowering shrub which will grow well on the mound of earth that was left after the abandonment. What are your recommendations?

|Based on your description it would seem the site is quite shady. You might consider various hydrangeas, summersweet clethra, or perhaps an azalea or rhododendron if the soil is well amended with organic matter and quite acidic.
