orchid watering - Knowledgebase Question

My orchids are in pots w/ a drainage hole. I am going on vacation for 2 1/2 wks. the house temperature will be on 60deg. can I set my orchids in a tray w/ a little water in it?

I think your solution is best. With lower temperatures, the plant's metabolism will slow so it won't need as much water. I set mine in a bathtub into which I leave about an inch of water. As the water evaporates it increases humidity around the plants, which also lessens their need for a drink of water. Light levels are somewhat lower, too, which will also slow metabolism. I'm sure your orchids will be just fine.
