Hi expert!
Thank you for your answer. My air conditioner sits in rocks, but there is probably a meager amount of sun. Do I remove the rocks and put topsoil down to plant the vine?thank you

You can remove the rocks and amend the soil with organic matter (or use topsoil) or you can find an attractive planter box - or make one - to set on top of the rocks for your vine. I'd tend to purchase or make a long planter box. This way you can attach a 4' tall trellis to the planter or drive stakes into the planter and attach your wire. The planter needs to be 12-18" deep to accommodate the roots of the plant. Enjoy your new vine!
