Three different grapefruit varieties are recommended for your growing region: Oroblanco is first on the list. It is not a true grapefruit, but a cross between a pummelo and a grapefruit. Oroblanco is the sweetest grapefruit available and it totally lacks the bitterness and astringent aftertaste of a typical grapefruit. The fruit resembles a grapefruit, but has a thicker rind, similar to a pummelo.

Melogold ? Melogold fruit is similar to that of Oroblanco but is juicier and has a thinner rind.

Rio Red is a large to very large fruit with red blushed, peach-colored, thin skin and deep red flesh. Few or no seeds. Good sweet tart flavor when ripe in mid-spring, more mellow by summer. Dwarf grows 12 feet.
