It's really difficult to find dog friendly ground covers. The urine will damage any plant, whether it's grass or a creeping ground cover like euonymus. Bermuda grass seems to have more tolerance for the salts in dog urine, and hosing down the area as soon as possible after the fact will help stop the burning. I've had some luck with Ajuga (carpet bugle). It is low growing and thick so it takes foot traffic and it grows only about 6 inches tall. Creeping euonymus is another suggestion. Hope you find something both you and your dogs like!
