|Heavenly bamboo (Nandina) can get by with a few hours of sunshine each day, especially in the desert. Yours should be fine if they are sheltered from the hottest afternoon sunshine. If that spot gets too much afternoon sun, consider planting them where they will get a few hours of morning sunshine. You can plant them in pots and move them with the seasons. Afternoon sun is fine during the cooler months of the year but from April through September they need protection from the sun from about noon on. Hope this clarifies things for you.
