Many of the seeds I have started have resulted in stringy looking sprouts. Could this be not enough light? Could it be anything else? Too wet?

Leggy (tall, spindly) seedlings need more light. I use shop lights (a bank of two fluorescent bulbs with a hood and chains) suspended over my trays of seedlings. Keep the lights only 2" above the tops of the seedlings and move the lights up as the seedlings grow. Keep the lights on 16 hours a day and you'll grow stout and sturdy seedlings. Good luck with your seedlings.
