We have had unprecedented snow this season and my knockout roses are flattened and broken - when and where to prune them? As of today 2/25/10 they are still snow covered!

With any luck at all, the snow will be gone soon - at least I hope so! Wait until the snow melts and you can assess the damage. You can safely prune away all the winter damaged stems and branches. In fact, Knock Out Roses can take any amount of pruning and come back beautifully so don't be afraid to prune your plants. I renovate mine by cutting back to about 12" above ground level every 3-4 years. You should be able to do the same. Best wishes with your landscape!
