I bought several amaryllis bulbs from my local home depot store. The first year, beautiful blooms. Each following year the flowers ar on a long stem and about the size of my thumbnail. How do I get the big blooms back?

Usually the opposite happens - the bulbs enlarge and because they store more energy each year, the flowers get larger and larger. You may not be giving your plant adequate sunshine, or you may be cutting off the leaves before they wither and die on their own, or your plant may not be going dormant and resting long enough. Try giving your plant more light, allowing the leaves to die back on their own, and storing it in a cool, dark place while it is resting. Hope this information helps!
