Glad you took your tree back outdoors after the holidays. Some people keep them indoors and they never quite adjust to growing outdoors again. You can plant yours in the ground in early spring. If it is in a shady area now, gradually move it into a sunnier and sunnier space because eventually you'll be planting it in full sunshine. Once you've acclimated it to full sun, dig a hole as deep and slightly wider than the nursery pot, set your tree in the hole and backfill with native soil. The goal is to have the tree sitting at the same soil level as it was growing in the container. Water it well after planting to help settle the soil and be sure to water deeply once each week during its first summer in the ground. Best wishes with your tree!
