|When is it time to prune back the blades, and can I cut out the brown stringy like moss that weaves itself around the base of the plant? The plant stand about 4ft, the trunk(s) are between 4-8 inches... thankyou for your time.. firstname.lastname@example.org

|You can carefully remove the hairy growth from the base of your palm, but it serves the purpose of protecting the trunk from sunscald. Fronds can be removed as they turn yellow and/or brown. Generally you can cut off any that are hanging low. If you look at the palm, you can cut off any fronds that are below the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions if you consider the top of the plant to be 12 o'clock.
