I have holes all over my front lawn. The holes seem like something came out of the ground on and angle. The diameter of the holes are the size of a pen and a little bigger.

Yours truly,
Holey Lawn

Lots of insects live underground and then emerge when they are mature enough, or if they are driven out by excessive rainfall. If you noticed the holes right after a soaking rain, the insects were merely trying to keep from drowning in the soggy soil. It's a little early in the season for them to emerge, but ground nesting wasps, earthworms, Mole Crickets, June bugs and Japanese beetles can overwinter in the soil, and will vacate the area if the soil gets too wet. The only way you'll know for certain is to do some excavating of the soil. Perhaps you'll find one of the culprits.
