|My fescue lawn is in very poor shape due to neglect and flooding in 2009 (weed infested and in many spots, just dirt). As spring approaches do I aerate and overseed or apply a pre-emergent to attempt to control weeds and overseed later in the year?

|I would be inclined to take care of the weeds first. A pre emergent will keep grass seeds from germinating as well as weed seeds so hold off on overseeding until this fall. At that time you can aerate the lawn, spread sand or compost over the top to fill in the holes the aerator makes and then overseed.
