|I live in RAL. N.C. When can I put grass seed down for the spring-summer season? Can I just through it on the top of the existing? I want to thicken grass & crowd out weeds.

|Late March and early April are the traditional overseeding times in your gardening region. I'd recommend low mowing and then raking your current lawn prior to broadcasting the seeds. You'll want the seeds to make good soil contact when they germinate so they can send their roots down deep into the soil. It's a little extra work but you'll be assured of good coverage and a healthy turf. Best wishes with your lawn.
