Rhododendrons usually bloom in early to mid-May. Wait until after the flowers are spent to prune your shrubs back. You can cut each branch back to the point where you want new growth to begin. New branches will develop this summer and flower buds for next spring's floral display will also be produced this summer. Enjoy your rhodies!
