You can feed your plants in the spring after new growth begins. That's when the plants are looking for nutrients. Don't prune your azaleas until after they have finished flowering. That's usually after mid-May. You can prune your gardenias after they've begun new growth early this spring. They develop flowers on new growth so pruning in early spring will encourage lots of new (and potentially flowering) growth.
